Volunteers
The organisation has been able to achieve much more than its resources would allow thanks to the hard work of our volunteers. They help to run art classes for children, advocacy language support, interpreting and more. They are responsible to and supervised by the Co-ordinator and/or relevant project worker. The RSG has developed a volunteer training programme for each service area and implements a Volunteer Policy in line with good practice guidelines.
We always need volunteers!
Anyone who volunteers will be welcome to contribute whatever their skills and interest can be best applied to. We are a young and expanding organisation, whose range of activities strictly depends upon the input of individual volunteers. In general we need volunteers who could help with:
- advice / advocacy
- children and youth programme (art and sport)
- mentoring and befriending
- health projects
- administration support
- newsletter
- web site
- help with fundraising
- cultural project
This will be a great chance for you to get work experience, references and in-house and other training opportunities, as well as meeting new friends and gain an insight into Roma culture.

A Few Words from Volunteers:
I thought I knew it all but almost every casework session brings new revelations about the machinations of the various bureaucracies that govern our lives. It’s privilege to be able to help. The staff are great to work with even when I steal their desks.
Pauline Rowe
Voluntary work for the RSG is a kind of “school of life in the UK” for me. It is also an opportunity for personal development as an interpreter as I’m thinking about working as a health advocate. But what is the most important thing - at the Roma Support group I can really help people in need!
Magda Czuj
The voluntary work I am doing for the RSG gives me feeling of a worthy use of my time. The friendly atmosphere in the office helps me to learn new things quickly and effectively and gives me the motivation to gain new qualifications as well as to look for new challenges. Through my case work I am also learning how to deal with difficult situations.
