Financial Inclusion Project

The Financial Inclusion Project aims to enhance financial inclusion for Roma migrants in London by:
  • Enabling them to navigate the post-Brexit benefit systems and exercise their welfare rights; and
  • Improving their financial literacy and their confidence to budget and manage their money.

Activities of the project

Delivering one-to-one advice and advocacy sessions on issues such as:
  • Welfare rights and entitlements - submitting/maintaining benefit claims, communicating with relevant agencies, appealing incorrect decisions
  • Debt and money management - helping to prioritise debts, looking at debt options, saving money on things like household bills, improving budgeting skills
We deliver these sessions from our office in Canning Town and at our outreach in White City.
Coronavirus update: We are currently delivering our advice service via phone appointments.
We also deliver community training, facilitate peer support sessions and publish information materials relating to financial inclusion issues.

Booking an appointment

If you would like a Financial Inclusion appointment please contact us using the phone numbers on our Contact page or email us at advice@romasupportgroup.org.uk.

Volunteering

Our volunteers play an important role helping with things like giving advice, translating  appointments and materials, and carrying out administrative tasks.
If you have strong communication skills and enjoy problem solving, join us and use your skills to make a difference!
We are particularly interested to hear from people who are confident communicating in English and an Eastern European language such as Polish, Romanian, Slovakian, Hungarian or Czech. As a Roma organisation, we are always pleased to welcome Roma volunteers.
You will be provided with full training and ongoing support.
If you are interested in helping us and want to find out more, please email advice@romasupportgroup.org.uk.
