Roma Support and Engagement Programme

Since 2011, the Roma Support Group (RSG) has been implementing the Roma Engagement Programme (RSEP), which helps statutory and voluntary agencies respond effectively to the needs of Roma

Some of the services we deliver:

  • A specialist intervention service for professionals working with Roma families and individuals in crisis
  • Training for professionals and the community
  • Specialist support for research and consultation

Roma Support Group’s profile and expertise

The RSG is a Roma-led charity organisation. Since its founding in 1998 the organisation has assisted thousands of Roma through a wide range of advocacy and cultural programmes.

During the last eighteen years we have built a wealth of expertise on Roma issues and have become the leading experts in this field. We have developed models of good practice regarding integration and empowerment of Roma communities which has led us to become advisers to statutory and non-statutory agencies nationally.

Expertise

Our expertise in the following areas is applied in working with individual Roma beneficiaries, external agencies, partner organisations, as well as in conducting our own research, policy work and writing publications:
  •  Roma socio-cultural and historical awareness
  • Knowledge of barriers, needs and aspirations of Roma children, elder people and their families
  • Linguistic expertise
See the separate page for more information about our expertise.

Methodology of work

All our work is carried out by experienced staff members in partnership with sessional workers who provide language assistance, advice on specific issues related to Roma culture and play an essential role in enabling engagement with Roma families.

All our staff have full DBS checks and we carry professional indemnity insurance, We will provide Service Level Agreements to every commissioning agency outlining their comprehensive brief, aims, objectives and timescales of the service we are asked to provide.
