Romano Kher Project

The Roma Support Group has been awarded a grant by the Oak Foundation to implement a five-year project on housing, which started in 2023, called 'Romano Kher: Roma Housing Advocacy Project'.

Through this project we aim to:
  • Improve access to housing and prevent homelessness for Roma migrants; 
  • Increase the Roma community members' knowledge about their housing rights; 
  • Empower Roma to voice their opinions and concerns during meetings with professionals and decision makers; 
  • Increase housing professionals' and decision makers' understanding of Roma migrants' housing needs/issues; and 
  • Bring about change in housing policy, strategies and practice so that they can better respond to the housing needs of Roma migrants at a local, regional and national level. ​

The Project plans to achieve its aims by facilitating advocacy support, community training on housing rights/ legislation, and influencing policy and practice in response to Roma housing needs. ​
